Welcome to the Office of the Shelby County Recorder.
The Recorder serves as the steward of many records of which the majority of pertain to real estate. It is the Recorder's responsibility to assure that these records are accurate, current and easily accessible. Shelby County was established in 1818 and the records in our office date back to this time. Prior to 1818 the land that is now Shelby County was part of Miami County.
To better assist the citizens of Shelby County and all of our constituents, you are now able to access the index from July 1, 1989 forward online.
If you are not able to find what you need on this website, feel free to visit our office and we will be happy to assist you. Due to the time involved in genealogical research, we are unable to fulfill these requests, but would be happy to assist you in your research when you visit our office.
