GENERAL DIVISION
The general division of the Shelby County
Common Pleas Court consists of civil and criminal divisions.
The following will give you a brief explanation of the type
of cases which are handled in each division:
CIVIL
- Professional Torts
- Product Liability
- Other Torts, i.e. auto injuries,
etc.
- Workers Compensation
- Foreclosures
- Administrative Appeal
- Complex Litigation
- All other civil actions
CRIMINAL
Cases in which a defendant is charged
with a violation of a state law or local ordinance other
than traffic law or ordinance.
To learn more about how these cases are
managed by the Court, please refer to Local Court Rule ll.
